Kajetan Wandowicz

4 Pump Court

Kajetan Wandowicz was never going to be a lawyer. Still, the combination of analysis, strategic decision-making, and public speaking drew him to the profession after he moved to England from Eastern Europe. Now operating at a level far beyond his 2018 call, Kajetan Wandowicz has a wide-ranging practice, with 2023 seeing him score a series of wins for his clients.

A headline success for the 4 Pump Court barrister last year was for PD Teesport against ferry operator P&O, which attempted to rely on a force majeure defence in light of Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic. A summary judgment saw the dispute disposed of without trial, avoiding huge costs and getting his client the fee to which it was entitled. Also last year, Wandowicz defended the bookmaker Paddy Power in a novel dispute, the two-day trial of which was purely about the legal aspects of a recorded conversation regarding a £280,000 claim on a bet.

Wandowicz currently acts for the Indian billionaire businessman and philanthropist Dr B.R. Shetty in disputes arising from the collapse of NMC Health, valued at £8.6bn at its peak in 2018 before being ultimately forced into administration in 2020 following confirmed financial discrepancies. Also, in 2024, Wandowicz will be working on arbitrations arising out of the war in Ukraine.
