Joydeep Choudhuri

Allen & Overy/Cahill Gordon & Reindel

Last year was one of the most important of Joydeep Choudhuri’s so far short and successful career as a leveraged finance lawyer. He made partner at Allen & Overy in April before deciding to join Cahill Gordon, where he takes up residence this year. These career decisions were all made against the backdrop of a hectic year in which he worked on several big deals. Among them, he worked with the direct lenders for Advent’s $1bn deal for the parcel delivery business Hermes in August.

More recently, he acted for the syndicate of banks on Cinven’s acquisition of Miller Insurance Service, and in January 2020 advised on Hellman & Friedman’s purchase of Scout24.

Throughout his career, Choudhuri has had experience working with high-profile banks and funds. At A&O his banking clients included Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs (where he did two separate secondments). On the private credit side, he has worked with Park Square Capital and KKR. His move to Cahill in 2021 will offer him the challenge of growing a practice in London that already has an extremely strong brand abroad.
