James has been at Renault/Nissan since May 2018, and was previously General Counsel and Company Secretary for EE, where he led the legal function for 12 years, through the merger of Orange and T-Mobile, the establishment of EE as the leading mobile operator in the UK, and the acquisition and integration into BT Group. James has a wide range of experience across the commercial, corporate and regulatory environments, and has particular expertise in corporate reputational management, having appeared as a witness to the Leveson inquiry into phone hacking, and represented EE in a subsequent parliamentary committee hearing. Since joining Renault/Nissan, James has been immersed in the car industries varied regulatory and compliance issues, and speaks regularly on corporate compliance and developing an ethical corporate culture.
