Fraser Simpson has built and leads the Wellcome Trust’s Ethics, Governance and Compliance team. Wellcome is a global charitable foundation that exists to improve public health (with a strategic focus on mental health, climate & health, and infectious diseases), funding this work from its significant endowment, currently worth circa £40bn. Fraser qualified at Linklaters before shifting his focus to international development, philanthropy and sustainable business. His work has taken him across the world, including time spent living and working in Tanzania. He is passionate about ensuring that purpose-driven organisations not only do the right things, but that they do them in the right way – with a genuine focus on shifting mindsets and, and understanding human behaviours in the moments that matter. The work he leads at Wellcome was recently cited by the UK’s Committee on Standards in Public Life in its ‘Leading in Practice’ report.
In his spare time, Fraser is a trustee of Railway Children, an international NGO working to protect and change the lives of children living on the streets.
