He is one of Mayer Brown’s biggest billers in the London office, and corporate finance partner Dom Griffiths has had a very good pandemic. The finance practice has increased revenue by roughly 50 per cent in the last two years and Griffiths has been rewarded for leading that success by being named the firm’s next London managing partner. He took over from incumbent Sally Davies on 1 January and is looking to implement the lessons learned in his practice across the firm, continuing Davies’ work on the health and wellbeing of the office’s people.

Griffiths’ leadership in London will involve three key tenets: his “Holy Trinity”, as he puts it. That means quality hiring, concentrating on communicating the firm’s successes and focusing on the professional development of the firm’s lawyers and business services staff.

In terms of developing the firm’s workload, the last 12 months has seen a consolidation of Mayer Brown’s relationships with its key banking partners, as well as new relationships with the likes of Bain and AnaCap. Griffiths will be searching for more clients like them to bring in and deepen the firm’s ties with in the coming years.
