Investigations supremo Deborah Finkler is no stranger to being at the beck and call of Slaughter and May’s client base. Hailed as one of the City’s standout litigators for well over two decades, Finkler has been roped in to handle all sorts of high-level investigations for the likes of JPMorgan and WPP, as well as TSB after its well publicised and troubled IT migration in 2018/19.

Now, though, she will be even more on call for Slaughters’ clientele, having been appointed as the firm’s first managing partner. In a real shake-up of the firm’s executive functions, Finkler will assume the duties of both the practice partner and the executive partner from May, and play a crucial role in the development of the COO position, another new one for the firm. As well as being a well-deserved promotion for one of Slaughters’ most respected partners, it should be a year of transformation for the firm as a whole.
