Christopher Barlow was appointed Head of Legal, Compliance and Controls, Nomura Europe Holdings plc (NEHS), and Company Secretary, in July 2019. Prior to this, he was General Counsel, EMEA, from February 2014.

The NEHS Legal function is made up of a team of legal experts based across EMEA who support the Front Office and Corporate functions with all legal matters. The team plays a fundamental role in supporting the firm to manage its legal, regulatory and reputational risk.

Christopher joined Nomura in 2003, and before his appointment as General Counsel, he was Head of Corporate Legal and Litigation, EMEA, leading a team of lawyers managing all non-transactional legal issues, including litigation, employment, company secretarial, IP, IT and commercial matters.

Christopher is a member of the NEHS Executive Committee; Company Secretary of the Nomura Europe Holdings plc (NEHS), Nomura International plc (NIP) and Nomura Bank International plc (NBI) Boards; and co-Chair of the Capital Commitment and Reputational Risk, Suitability and Conflicts Committees.

Prior to joining Nomura, Christopher spent six years in private practice at Simmons & Simmons, a leading international law firm. Christopher qualified as a solicitor in 1999 and as a solicitor-advocate in 2003.
