Meggitt PLCSVP General Counsel & Director of Government Relations (UK & EMEA)

Barry is the SVP General Counsel (UK & EMEA) for Meggitt plc. His role includes oversight of all legal matters relating to UK & EMEA, UK Government Relations and Group Legal Operations including panel firm review and management.

Prior to joining Meggitt, Barry was Director of Legal Affairs & Third-Party Sales at ITV plc. He was the divisional GC for ITV Commercial (a division focused on monetizing ITV’s programming in the UK) and also for ITV Direct to Consumer (a division focused on ITV’s digital offering, viewer interactivity and international pay-TV strategy). Further, he ran ITV’s third-party sales representation business in the UK and oversaw Group Legal Operations.

The Legal Social Mobility Partnership created by Barry won the CSR Programme of the Year 2016. The LSMP has now evolved into a registered charity (Social Mobility Business Partnership – www.smbp.org.uk) and increased its focus to provide students with experience of law and accountancy in the context of business. The SMBP was awarded the 2018 UK Social Mobility Leadership award in its first year of existence.

Barry sits on the board of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and was recently re-elected for a second term.

Barry was formerly a Solicitor at Hogan Lovells specialising in sports and media.
