Akima Paul Lambert’s 2021 began with her return to the firm where she first qualified as a lawyer. Her departure from Debevoise & Plimpton to rejoin Hogan Lovells as a partner marked the latest step in what has already been a wonderful career.

Paul Lambert’s departure from what was then Lovells was motivated by a desire to expand her practice and diversify into a broad range of sectors. She has certainly achieved that goal and become a trusted counsel for pharmaceutical, tobacco and mining businesses.

Her move back to Hogan Lovells is particularly significant for British American Tobacco (BAT) (a key client of Paul Lambert’s) because the company was already sending work to Hogan Lovells while Paul Lambert was at Debevoise. The ability to send a large amount of its business to a single firm will no doubt yield an increase in instructions as BAT pivots from away from its traditional tobacco focus and into new revenue streams.

This year, Paul Lambert is keen to focus more on her work within networks where she has a great deal of experience. Issues around representation, climate change and mentoring to diverse backgrounds are at the top of her list and she cannot wait to get started.
