A NOTE FROM THE EDITOR ABOUT THE TRANSACTIONAL CATEGORIES

This year we’re focusing on the people that made the deals as well as the technical brilliance and the importance to the client – we want to showcase your up and coming stars in the team. So when you’re putting the submission together – think about the deal itself. Were there any regulatory or risk hurdles? What did the team do to overcome or mitigate them? How long had you been working with the client before then?

For the shortlisted submissions, we’ll be turning the answers to all of these questions  – supplemented with interviews with the key individuals – into a highly readable narrative and case study of technical brilliance, project management and client relationship which the firm will be able to use in its own marketing. We’ll want to speak to the lead partner, of course, but we also want to speak to the lead associate(s).

The Lawyer Awards is going to spearhead a wide programme of talent recognition by The Lawyer – the lead associates from the shortlisted deals will be invited to a virtual chat with the editors about career opportunities in their practice area and their own learnings along the way, where they think the transactional market is going and the advice they would give to anyone wanting to make a career in this area of law.
