Track 2: [TL Chat] Leading a change management programme

About

Why is change management so hard? Probably because it involves having to take people with different needs on the same journey to achieve a common goal. Why should you as a lawyer want to do this, and why are you the best person to lead a change management programme — even if the topic is nonlegal or out of your comfort zone? This case study focuses on how one GC has led their whole company through a change management programme related to the company’s overall mission and its core values,  and embedding it into their business plan and ways of working. The session looks at the ups and downs of this journey, from convincing the CEO that a lawyer (of all people!) is the right person to lead the process, to trying to negotiate your way through a change management programme across a business where people are reluctant to engage or there’s pushback from senior leaders, to having to negotiate hard to get the budget and support you need.
