The 3-5-year plan: How are legal departments going to look and operate in the future?

PANEL DISCUSSION

About

The pandemic and all the changes it brought forward, ESG and the focus on climate change, social movements like BLM and the increased focus and scrutiny on D&I have all pushed businesses to reassess what they stand for, what their purpose is and how their strategy needs to change.

CEO priorities have shifted as a result, moving away from just P&L outcomes to more balanced views around risk, stakeholder and community engagement.

Does that mean that the old models of legal function maturity are now outdated and in need of change?

When where we were isn’t where we want to be, we should deliberately choose to pause, look inwardly and challenge ourselves. With that in mind, we’ve asked GCs from different businesses to take a step back and visualise how their departments should look like in three to five years’ time, to match where their businesses need to be.
