A man from the West Midlands has been jailed for life after being found guilty of the murder of his friend in a case in which No5 Criminal Law Silk, Michael Duck QC prosecutes.

It was heard that Darren Lander, 28, hit Richard Groves across his head with a rock following an argument over stolen money.

Lander admitted to murder and was sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court.

Duck said that the blows rained down on the victim’s head and neck fracturing the skull in several places. He also revealed that it was a “sustained attacked with over 40 sites of injury with the most serious injuries to the face and head”.
