McDermott Will & Emery names 33 new partners, three in London

McDermott Will & Emery has named 33 new partners for 2015, three of them in its London office.

McDermott’s new London partners are corporate associate Eleanor West, private client associate Dhana Sabanathan and international tax practice associate Matthew Herrington. The new partners were drawn from 12 practice groups in 12 of the firm’s offices worldwide and will take on their new roles in January 2015.

The firm’s promotions were unsurprisingly US-heavy, with 10 new partners in its Chicago office, five in Washington, DC, three in New York, two in Orange County, and one apiece in Miami, Boston, Los Angeles, Houston and Silicon Valley.

Alongside the three promotions in London, McDermott made up two other new partners in Dusseldorf and two in Paris. The firm’s offices in Frankfurt, Milan, Munich, Rome and Seoul missed out on this year’s promotions completely.

These promotions mark an increase on McDermott’s 23 firmwide promotions this year, but is still lower than the 43 promoted in 2013.

In London numbers have increased on preceding years: in both 2013 and 2014 the office missed out on any promotions.
