For the second year running, the award for Eastern European/Balkans firm of the year goes to Romania’s Maravela Asociatii, a firm that was only established five years ago. Despite its small size has reaped the rewards of its niche, which includes an affiliated tax consultancy, while developing robust networks of relationships outside Romania.

Over the course of 2017, the firm continued to attract a series of international clients investing in Romania and Eastern Europe. The judges praised Maravela’s focus on internal nurturing of its talent and its gender diversity in particular. ‘There’s a clear culture and positioning on work/life balance,’ said the judges, ‘with a strong approach to people and technology and a solid international client base.’
