A writ for US$410,12in compensation has been issued by Considar of New York, the owner of a valuable stock of titanium, against Dunstan and Wragg, the owner of a titanium processing factory.
It accuses Dunstan and Wragg, a division of Sheffield-based Midgley, of negligence and failing to take proper care of 60 tons of titanium sponge brickettes sent to the factory for processing. A fire and an explosion took place at the factory in Wreakes, Sheffield, on 21 March last year. According to the writ, issued in London, the fire began beneath a massive crushing machine and spread to the goods which were stored nearby.
