Linklaters has retained 86 per cent of its spring 2017 qualifying cohort.
The firm had 51 trainees approaching qualification, and 48 applied for newly-qualified (NQ) positions, with 44 eventually staying on.
The NQs will be qualifying into the London, Hong Kong and Dubai offices.

With 51 members, the spring 2017 qualifying cohort is Linklaters’ smallest in many years; a fact also true of the firm’s magic circle peers Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. A&O had 38 qualifiers this round and Freshfields just 37.
Linklaters is the final magic circle firm to post its spring retention. Slaughter and May kept all its qualifiers and Clifford Chance recorded an unusually low 67 per cent.
