Leeds firm Walker Morris is keeping on 14 of its 16 trainees reaching qualification, a retention rate of 88 per cent.

Three trainees each will join the real estate and ‘finance commercial’ teams. Two more join the commercial contracts team and one apiece will take up newly qualified positions in corporate; commercial litigation; finance litigation; employment; IP; and energy, infrastructure and government.

In addition, the firm has recruited seven more NQs from other firms to start in the autumn (three into corporate, and one each into energy, planning, commercial litigation and employment) and is still in the market for regulatory and commercial juniors.

The firm says it is one of the biggest NQ intakes in the firm’s history.

Graduate partner Duncan Lole said: “We are delighted that 14 of our trainees are being retained as it demonstrates that our trainees enjoy working with us and with our client base and that they envisage a bright future at Walker Morris.”

Last year, Walker Morris retained 13 of 14 NQs, translating to a 93 per cent retention rate.
