Laytons has taken on the London-based private client team of Beachcroft, one of the departments axed in the firm’s recently-announced restructuring programme.
Partner Julian Korn and his small team move to Laytons after it was decided that private client work was no longer part of Beachcroft’s strategy.
Last week (9 November) it emerged that Beachcroft had embarked on a restructuring of three departments, including its Birmingham professional risks team and London projects as well as private client.
In total, seven partners and around 20 Beachcroft staff are affected by the move, which involves consultations over redundancies.
Laytons’ private client head Ian Burman said that the hire adds critical mass to the firm, particularly in the areas of tax and trusts.
The two firms plan to continue to work together in relation to ongoing and future private client work.
