Lawyers Against LonelinessWorld Cup of Chambers

The final is entering its last few hours – there’s still time to vote here.

Below are a few of the lengths that finalists St John’s Buildings and Pump Court Chambers have gone to in order to win your vote, plus a few of our other favourite Tweets from the final.

Dog of the Day

“I wanted to submit a couple of photos of my dog Ruby,” writes Caroline Isaacs Smith of Axiom.

“The first is a message to the NHS to say thank you, taken with the rest of the Greenwich based Sausage Patrol. The second is her napping in her usual spot, taking a break from the stresses of daily locked down life.”

Emily Daniels, a trainee solicitor at Reed Smith, writes: “May I introduce you to my new (trainee) receptionist, Merry, and my new (trainee) secretary, Vivi. I think they were nervous on their first day on the job, though, as they fell asleep after three minutes of IT training.”

Quiz of the Day

A classic quiz from 2018 – can you remember the 20 most popular names for a male partner in the UK top 100 firms?

Most popular female names next week.

Funky Sensation by Disclosure will take you back to disco floors of the 1970s and 1980s, whether you lived through those times or not. It is an edit of Gwen McCrae’s 1981 classic by the same name.

Released in 2018, it can be seen as a precursor to the duo’s newest EP, Ecstasy, which came out a few weeks ago. In it, the brothers who form Disclosure continue to explore their funky electro sound. We recommend listening to the new album as well, for a disco-themed afternoon of boogey. -Ana de Liz

Get involved

Anyone in the legal sector is welcome to contribute to any of the sections of Law Against Loneliness.

Here is how to contribute to a few of the regular features we have run so far.  Everything can be sent to richard.simmons@thelawyer.com.

Video of the day

What we want are individual, personal contributions from lawyers and legal sector professionals working from home. You could be demonstrating a recipe, videoing your daily run, telling a joke, singing us a song, showing off a skill, or just telling us about your day and what you’ve been up to. We are very open to creativity – anything that uplifts or diverts.

What we don’t want is too many firm-branded videos talking about how seamlessly you have transitioned to a new way of working, please.
