Lawyers Against Loneliness

Video of the Day

Brian Levine, head of media at Battens Solicitors, is doing a lockdown challenge with musical theatre friends: a song a day uploaded to Facebook. Here’s the link to the channel.

The video below is his rendition of one of our favourites, Beauty School Dropout from Grease: “It’s just good fun really and frankly music and entertainment tend to lighten the load!”

Dog of the day

“This is my dog Peppa,” writes Sydney Mitchell partner Dean Parnell. “The government lockdown had been hard on her as she’s now done to just one walk a day; however, she’s adapting and has turned to social media – so now she can keep up to date with the latest gossip from the local park from the comfort of her own.”

KOD by J. Cole

Cole does not disappoint. Pretty much every one of his albums is high calibre and KOD is nodifffernt.  Take the second song on the album, it is a stark reminder of Cole’s most obvious talent. It so happens that the self-produced title track seems to flirt with a contemporary trap aesthetic. It almost feels like a statement unto itself; anything you can do, I can do better. KOD sets the album up nicely.  Both the album and song are must-listens. -Amar Mehta

Get involved

Anyone in the legal sector is welcome to contribute to any of the sections of Law Against Loneliness.

Here is how to contribute to a few of the regular features we have run so far.  Everything can be sent to richard.simmons@thelawyer.com.

Video of the day

What we want are individual, personal contributions from lawyers and legal sector professionals working from home. You could be demonstrating a recipe, videoing your daily run, telling a joke, singing us a song, showing off a skill, or just telling us about your day and what you’ve been up to. We are very open to creativity – anything that uplifts or diverts.

What we don’t want is too many firm-branded videos talking about how seamlessly you have transitioned to a new way of working, please.

Contributors should send us a YouTube link and 100 words about the song in the style of previous entries.

Dog of the day

Self-explanatory. Send us dog pix. Or cats, ponies, rabbits, budgies etc. Don’t forget to let us know their name and give us a line of detail too if you’d like.
