Video of the Day

Need a little music in your life? Russell-Cooke senior associate Ed Cracknell writes: “My two girls and I have been sending birthday videos to friends and as it caught on we decided to offer them in return for a donation to the NHS Covid-19 appeal.”

Let Los Tres Mariachis perform a birthday song for your loved one, for a minimum donation of £5 to the NHS Covid-19…

Dog of the Day

“I have taken on dog walking at lunchtime to help my friend who is an NHS nurse. It’s been a bit of a revelation (and it’s certainly a long time since I had that much attention in a park),” says Osborne Clarke PR manager Chris Bond.

“This is Alfie outside my local pub which is reopening for take-away today. It’s called The Black Prince and it’s where they filmed The Kingsman. Pubs will probably be among the last things to reopen as normal after this pandemic is over and I think it’s important to support them as much as we can.”

Also from Osborne Clarke, “I’d like to submit my rescue collie puppy, Gem, for dog of the day,” writes, senior IT projects manager Laura Sambrook.

“The pre lockdown pic shows a perfectly well adjusted, polite and well groomed young pup. Post lockdown shows a louche, slovenly layabout dog clearly suffering from the effects of not being able to go out and do her usual long walks and pub visits.”

The Lawyer Fringe Festival

Creatives are having a hard time of it at the moment so we want to publicise their work during lockdown. If you’ve got a recommendation of a creative business doing something that lawyers can support, let us know at the usual email address.

Welsh musician Emyr Thomas is a talent on the rise and has just released his first EP. In this frantic world we’re in at present his music is a welcome chill out.

Get involved

Anyone in the legal sector is welcome to contribute to any of the sections of Law Against Loneliness.

Here is how to contribute to a few of the regular features we have run so far.  Everything can be sent to richard.simmons@thelawyer.com.

Video of the day

What we want are individual, personal contributions from lawyers and legal sector professionals working from home. You could be demonstrating a recipe, videoing your daily run, telling a joke, singing us a song, showing off a skill, or just telling us about your day and what you’ve been up to. We are very open to creativity – anything that uplifts or diverts.

What we don’t want is too many firm-branded videos talking about how seamlessly you have transitioned to a new way of working, please.

The Lawyer Listens

Contributors should send us a YouTube link and 100 words about the song in the style of previous entries.

Dog of the day

Self-explanatory. Send us dog pix. Or cats, ponies, rabbits, budgies etc. Don’t forget to let us know their name and give us a line of detail too if you’d like.
