Dog of the Day

We bring you this deeply disturbing photo of Rosie (see LAL, 12 May) doing goodness knows what. Roseanna Biggs of BCLP explains: she is “showing off what she spent her spare time in the first lockdown doing (i.e. mastering sitting on the fence).”

Dead Butterflies – Gorillaz, Kano and Roxani Arias

Formed in 1998 as a collaborative effort between Blur’s frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamies Hewlett, Gorillaz has become one of the biggest bands in the world. Their music is underpinned by its experimental nature and the bands seventh studio album, “Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez” is its most ambitious yet.

The concept of the album is that every track is a single, intended to be played on the radio. The band drafted in several high-profile artists on the album, including Elton John, ScHoolboy Q, Goldlink and slowthai.

It’s the bands collaboration with Kano, who has previously work with Gorillaz on their third studio album. The pair appear alongside Roxani Arias on “Dead Butterflies”. The song’s opening is chaotic, with the all the keys on a piano being smashed at ones.  Kano delivers exemplary bars, paired perfectly with Arias – who sings in both Spanish and English over a upbeat pop bass. –Amar Mehta
