Latham bolsters China presence with Beijing launch

The firm said the transactionally focused outpost in China’s administrative, policy and regulatory hub would be important for its long-term growth plans in the region.

“The growth potential in China and the Asia region is immense and we’re excited to add a Beijing office to our platform,” said Bob Dell, chairman and managing partner of Latham.

David Miles, a Hong Kong-based member of the firm’s executive committee, said the firm had been steadily building its platform in Greater China with a combination of US, Hong Kong and English law.

“The opening of a Beijing office is another sign of our commitment to the region,” Miles added.

The new Beijing office has been launched without a dedicated managing partner. Instead, it is currently being run as part of Latham’s Greater China practice under the leadership of Asia head Miles. A number of partners, counsel and associates have transferred to staff the Beijing office alongside some local recruits.
