Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme comes to an end

As first announced in the 2011 Waste Policy Review, the Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme (LATS) came to an end on 31 March 2013. LATS was introduced in 2005 as a scheme whereby England’s waste-disposal authorities received allowances, diminishing each year, to send biodegradable municipal waste to landfill.
