US and UK firms join forces as Cineworld seeks £3bn deal

Shearman makes up London trio in bumper promotions round

Shearman & Sterling has announced one of its largest ever promotions round, making up a total of 16 partners worldwide.

The contingent includes a trio of lawyers in London; a considerable change from last year, when Shearman did not promote any new City partners.

Gordon Dadds posts 14.5% revenue hike in first post-IPO results

Gordon Dadds has posted its first set of results since its London Stock Market flotation this August, with its half-year financials to 30 September showing a 14.5 per cent rise in revenue to £12.89m.

Profit forecasts for Gordon Dadds Group have been revised upwards following strong trading and the £4m acquisition of three-partner tax consultant CW Energy last month. The firm also acquired South London law firm Alen-Buckley in June.

BonelliErede opens its first Middle East office

Italian firm BonelliErede is opening its first office in the Middle East, launching an offering in Dubai.

Former London managing partner Andrea Carta Mantiglia will be the executive chairman of the new office, while corporate lawyers Marco De Leo and John Shehata will be on-site local partners.
