Romania is enacting the secondary legislation pertaining to cybersecurity in an effort to avoid European sanctions

ROMANIA IS ENACTING THE SECONDARY LEGISLATION PERTAINING TO CYBERSECURITY IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID EUROPEAN SANCTIONS 1. Background On October 30, 2020, the European Commission sent a reasoned opinion1 regarding Romania’s failure to notify the national measures allowing for the identification of operators, the number of operators of essential services and the thresholds used in the identification process. The notification process is part of the implementation process of the Directive (EU) 2016/1148 concerning measures for a high common level of security of network and information systems across the Union (the “NIS Directive”). Webinar: COVID-19 as a catalyst for change

This free to watch webinar was part of the virtual conference In-house Counsel as Business Partner in association with EY that took place on the 21st – 23rd of October. Complete the form below to access the 40-minute recording of this discussion. There has been a lot of negative and unfortunate circumstances resulting from the Covid-19 outbreak that we’ve all been privy to, if not directly affect by. EY Law’s Philip Goodstone kicks off the discussion by asking the panel to share the positive lessons that we can take away from the past few months as we move from now to next and beyond. It seems the increased connectivity through technology and diversity within meetings (and of course the lack of commute) are resounding positives that the panel were all thankful for. For EY Law’s Chris Price, the pandemic has stripped away a lot of the assumptions, “assumptions always make you see someone else’s reality through your lens and shredding yourself from that has been a true positive”. Despite the fact that the current situation has been intellectually challenging and demanding, we have witnessed the democratisation of teams, a levelling of the playing field for those who may not previously have been able to attend the in-person meetings and new-found levels of empathy. “The overwhelming kindness and empathy has been extraordinary and that ‘how are you’ that starts a conversation now has a different meaning, and long may it last”. The full webinar speaker line-up includes OakNorth Bank head of legal & transaction management Ben Wulwik, GE Aviation executive counsel for commercial Tristan Chubb and Lloyds Banking Group head of legal & regulatory change group transformation Justine Sacarello.
