Minister Bruins (Medical Care and Sport) of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport ( VWS ) condemns the behavior of pharmaceutical Leadiant to the strong price increase of the drug CDCA. He wrote this in a letter to the House of Representatives last Monday .

CDCA (chenodeoxycholic acid) is used as a medicine in the treatment of hereditary metabolic disease CTX (cerebrotendinous xantomatosis). The price of CDCA increased over the years from € 300 to € 500 per person per year to € 40,000 per person per year. Leadiant (the marketing authorization holder of CDCA) again raised the price to € 153,000 to € 163,000 per person per year.
