A number of cases involving corporate libel claimants were decided before the Supreme Court’s decision in Lachaux v Independent Print finally settled the meaning of the “serious harm” test.
On 10 February, the Supreme Court will hear the appeal in R (on the application of A) v Secretary of State for the Home Department. The case concerns the legality of guidance issued under the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
In June 1994 a libel trial began in the Royal Courts of Justice in London that would ultimately become the longest case in English legal history.
