King & Spalding raids Baker & McKenzie

The raid has left Baker & McKenzie with just three partners in its 20-lawyer Houston outpost.

The departing partners – John Cogan, Duncan Gray, Kenneth Culotta and Philip Weems – all specialise in international transactions involving the energy industry and will join King & Spalding's corporate group in the Houston office.

A King & Spalding spokesman says the new partners are bringing some “very significant” clients with them to the firm, but refused to elaborate. A Baker & McKenzie spokesman however, says the partners' departure will not affect client service, since the firm has around 100 lawyers firmwide on the team which the quartet is leaving.
