The indictment of the People’s Procuratorate of Liaoning accused that from 1995 to 2000 Liu Yong partnered with other defendants to operate a criminal syndicate based on the Shenyang Jiayang (Baijia) Group. In his role as the leader the following crimes were committed: intentional injury, robbery, extortion, illegal possession of guns, disrupting public service, illegal business, tax evasion and bribery.
Liu Yong was sentenced to death which was commuted to a death sentence with a two-year suspension of execution after a trial in the Superior People’s Court of Liaoning Province. The Supreme People’s Court retried the case and Liu Yong was again sentenced to death with immediate execution.
