Khaitan & Co successfully advised and represented Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in the Bombay High Court and obtained a favourable order in relation to a matter involving proposed increase in Mumbai Metro fares as directed by the Fare fixation committee which was appointed under the Metro Railway (Operation and Maintenance) Act, 2002. The High court order set aside the notification increasing the fare and directed the Union of India to once again constitute the fare fixation committee for considering afresh the issue of fare fixation for the Mumbai metro. The core litigation team included Raj Panchmatia (Partner), Peshwan Jehangir (Associate Partner), C Nageshwaran (Associate) and Ayush Agarwala (Senior Associate) with expert inputs from Shivanshu Thaplyal (Associate Partner) on the Infrastructure aspects.
