Kennedys is planning to open its sixth Latin American office and its first in Argentina through through one of its associated firms.

The three-lawyer office of Alberto Bunge & Associates (ABA) will become part of Kennedys from 1 January 2018, becoming the sixth office in seven years for the firm in the region.

The two firms entered a formal association on 1 January 2016 and focuses largely on Kennedys core insurance practice.

The firm has locations in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru and opened its first office targeted at the region in Miami in 2010.

Kennedys senior partner Nick Thomas said: “Argentina is one of the largest insurance markets in the Latin American region, and there was a growing need from both existing and potential clients for us to have a full Kennedys presence available to them.”

The firm has shown considerable expansion in 2017 with numerous raids on US firm Sedgwick Chudleigh, including gaining Sedgwick’s Bermuda location in October, making a six-strong hire in New York and another in Chicago.

ABA managing partner Alberto Bunge said: “We are very much looking forward to becoming part of Kennedys, as it will provide us with a competitive advantage through the knowledge and expertise we can draw on from its global network for the benefit of our clients.

“We have already received a lot of positive messages from clients who are equally excited about this development.”
