Judge throws out ghost tale

JUDGE Peter Stretton QC has assumed an altogether new role as an exorcist.

In a case involving “misrepresentational fraud” in the sale of a Staffordshire cottage haunted by a murdered milkmaid, the plaintiffs (below) told of walls seeping with water, creaking floorboards, visions of a bound and gagged naked woman and a 19th century figure in flowing dress gliding across the room.

Judge Stretton, however, took a mere 10 minutes to dismiss the claims as “impossible”, and even pooh-poohed the claims of Church of England vicar the Reverend Peter Mockford of Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent, that the couple were telling the truth.
