Jones Day has lost finance partner Paul Simcock to Vinson & Elkins in London as the firm works to bolster its corporate finance practice in the City.

Simcock was at Jones Day for almost four years, having joined from Berwin Leighton Paisner in 2014. Prior to that, he was a counsel at Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.

Simcock’s practice focuses on advising private equity sponsors, alternative credit providers, banks and corporations across a range of debt restructurings, distressed transactions, refinancings and other syndicated and bilateral lending projects. He has advised clients such as L1 Retail and Macquarie.

Earlier this year, the firm bolstered its London partnership with the promotion of three in London: Federico Fruhbeck, Dan Graham and Louise Woods.

This is the latest lateral hire for the firm since Shaun Lascelles, who joined the firm in Octobr 2016 from Ashurst.

Vinson & Elkins has said it has been “deepening its bench” across finance, private equity, M&A and tax.

According to data from The Lawyer, this is the first partner loss for Jones Day in London since September 2016, when the firm lost Christopher Braithwaite to Humphries Kerstetter.
