Eversheds has hired Hammonds pension star Jay Doraisamy to bulk up its London pensions practice.
Doraisamy will join the national firm as partner, working alongside another former Hammonds partner David Beswick. The move comes after The Lawyer reported Doraisamy and Beswick resigning from Hammonds along with partners Martin Letza and Amanda Allen ( 1 April)
Doraisamy is now the third pensions partner to arrive at Eversheds from Hammonds in a year. Leeds pensions head Terry Saeedi joined Eversheds last year after her resignation at the end of Hammonds partner lock-in period (13 October)
Eversheds head of pensions Anthony Arter said: “Jay’s experience with large scale pension schemes and a variety of complex issues. Our pensions practice is a very important part of the firm and Jay’s experience with large schemes will be a real asset.”
Doraisamy has advised on a number of high profile pensions issues, including ICI Pensions Schemes for Alliance UniChem Group Pensions Schemes during its 2006 takeover of Boots.
She joins Eversheds 69-lawyer pensions team and brings the total number of partners in the group to 16.
A Hammonds spokesperson said: “We wish Jay all the best for the future. Jay was one of 15 pensions partners firmwide. All clients of the department are serviced by teams of lawyers which include two partners, to ensure continuity of service.”
