Browne Jacobson has promoted seven new partners, bringing the total number of partners at the Midlands-based firm to a record total of 67.

Four of the new partners are based in the firm’s Birmingham office and three in Nottingham. Four are in the insurance and public risk department, two in business services and one in property.

The newly promoted partners are: Andrew Christon, Steven Conway, Andrew Hopkin and Kevin Lawson (insurance & public risk), Tom Howard (property) and Mark Hughes and Richard Nicholas (business services).

Fellow Midlands firm HBJ Gateley Wareing said that it had no internal promotions planned for the coming year, but a spokesperson argued that the firm “will continue to strengthen teams and units laterally as and when opportunities arise. “ Last year the firm promoted four people to partner.

Meanwhile north-west firms Halliwells and Pannone have announced promotions of five and four new partners respectively.

Halliwells has made up five fixed share members. They are Andrew Bell (corporate recovery), Sarah Garth and Chris Thompson, (employment), Estelle Machell (dispute resolution) and Ian O’Toole (pensions).

Halliwells’ managing partner Ian Austin said: “These promotions are very well deserved. It is due to the quality of our people that we remain on course for astrong end to the financial year.”

Single-site Manchester firm Pannone made up four new salaried partners. They are Clare Campbell, Paul McClorry and Robert Sproston in personal injury and Lucy Nicol in the private client department.
