A jar of Nutella.
If you could introduce one law, what would it be and why?
I would make it illegal to work in August. I hate coming back from holiday to 2,000 emails.
How did you spend your last bonus? (If you have never received a bonus, how would you hope to spend it in the future)?
Depending on the amount I would either take the family skiing to North America or buy a Warren Miller skiing DVD.
What are the best perks of your role?
I work with some great people across the firm and have a great overview of the business as a result of our sectoral approach.
What do you wear on dress-down Fridays?
A suit. Dress down is so last year.
Have you ever been asked to do anything at work that you suspect might have been illegal?
No, but the Bribery Act may change that if it impacts corporate hospitality.
What is the most irritating habit of any partner you’ve worked for?
It has to be the partner who ignores your ideas until they are suggested by another partner, by which time they are brilliant.
How do you unwind after the end of a hard week?
A walk along the beach and hopefully a round of golf.
Do you see your colleagues on weekends?
Occasionally, if I have to work.

I met my wife when we were at school – a long time ago.
If you were a lawyer what would your practice area be and why?
Technology – I have spent the last 16 years working with technology lawyers and I was one of the founders of our OUT-LAW website.
What do you eat for lunch?
Usually something that resembles a sandwich.
Is your salary (in thousands) greater than your age?
Yes, but the gap is closing.
What items do you always carry around with you at work?
My BlackBerry and my passport (you need that to fly Ryanair).
Of whom do you have photos on your desk?
My three boys and a picture of the beach in Troon. Oh, and a Michael Jackson calendar.
What’s your favourite local?
The Crown on Clerkenwell Green. I will miss it when we move to our new Offices at Crown Place later this month.

Nescafe with lots of proper milk.
City break or weekend in the country?
I live by the beach so a City-break makes a change.
