Lane received the lowest number of votes in the first round, leaving three partners in the running for the second round of voting. The ballot will close on 23 March.

Former managing partner Dick Tyler, infrastructure and project finance partner Andrew Ivison and consumer products head Louise Wallace will now go on to a second round of voting, since no candidate received the 50 per cent required for a win.

Whoever wins the race will succeed Richard Price, who has been in the role since 2002. The winner will begin a four-year term on 1 May.

The process to find Price’s successor kicked off in February (24 February 2011).
