t’s relocation, relocation, relocation time over at Clifford Chance as a trio of top partners pack their bags for pastures new.
London-based finance and capital markets co-head Tim Plews is off to boost Saudi Arabian associate firm Al Jadaan, infrastructure parter Geraint Hughes will make the short hop over from Hong Kong to head the Singapore office while, possibly most significantly, London litigation head Nick Munday is about to make his sojourn in Moscow a permanent move (see story).
The idea is to tap into the love affair between Russian oligarchs with money to burn and what are seen as the increasingly claimant-friendly London courts.
Munday is relishing the return to doing pure client work, with his remit to cultivate new relationships and nurture existing ones. He even says he’s getting used to the freezing temperatures.
Apparently a job description that involves wining and dining some of the richest people in the world takes some of the edge off the cold.
