TLT hires Halliwells litigation duo for nascent City office

TLT has swooped for Halliwells finance litigation partners David Pacey and Richard Clayton as the fallout from the Manchester firm’s move into administration continues.

The pair, who have experience advising banks, funds and other financial institutions on banking litigation and regulatory issues, will join the Bristol firm next week and will be based in its new City office.

Halliwells filed a notice of its intention to appoint administrators last week (25 June 2010), with the firm’s remaining assets now expected to be taken over by Liverpool firm Hill Dickinson.

The latest partner moves follow a number of departures over the past 12 months, including property chief Mike Edge to Pinsent Masons, healthcare partners Christopher Briggs and Simon Wortley to Beachcroft and a large swathe of its insurance practice to Kennedys.

Pacey was hired from Reid Minty in 2004 to help launch Halliwells’ London banking litigation practice. Clayton joined the City practice in 2006 from Simmons & Simmons.

TLT head of financial services Richard Waller said: “David and Richard joining TLT will further enhance our nationally acknowledged financial services litigation practice and will add two first-class partners to our rapidly expanding London office. I’m delighted that they’ve chosen to join TLT.”

Jonathan Hoey leads the firm’s banking and financial services litigation team from its Bristol headquarters.
