The move is effective immediately. Washington DC-based Elliott Portnoy, until now the firm’s other co-chief executive, will become the sole holder of the role.

As part of his new job Morris will move to New York, but will travel across the US and the rest of the world visiting offices and looking at ways to increase integration at the firm.

According to Morris and Portnoy, it was always the firm’s plan to have one chief executive and one partner focusing on integration, but the success of the merger had allowed them to move quicker than expected.

“We’d always contemplated this role focusing on integration ever since we first proposed the merger,” said Morris. “But we’ve just had our inaugural partner conference in Orlando and found that our initial integration process had gone faster than expected, and the need to have co-chief executives joined at the hip just seemed a bit silly.

“So we’ve been able to move quicker to a having a global chief executive and I can focus on the next step of integration.”

In November 2010, SNR Denton appointed Milton Keynes head Brandon Ransley as UK managing partner (10 November 2010).
