SJ Berwin is set to make a further addition to its energy and infrastructure practice with the hire of Greenberg Traurig Maher (GTM) partner Stuart Jordan.
Construction partner Jordan is the City firm’s second energy hire from GTM this month, with consultant and former partner Neil Upton joining from the US firm’s London base (3 January 2012).
Jordan advises on construction projects, including the energy sector.
Both Jordan and Upton joined GTM in 2010 from DLA Piper. Companies House filings show that Upton was a GTM partner until July last year.
The exits are seen as a serious loss for GTM, but for SJ Berwin they significantly boost a practice that currently lacks recognition in the market.
The firm is understood to be working on bolstering the practice, partly to complement its real estate practice, which is more of a core area for the firm.
Its energy and infrastructure practice functions around Elaine Gibson-Bolton, while Julia Court heads up the construction group. Upton is set to co-head the energy and infrastructure team alongside Gibson-Bolton.
