The New York firm has relocated Düsseldorf partner Hans Meyer-Lindemann, who had been dividing his time between Germany and Belgium, to Brussels on a permanent basis. He has taken three associates with him.
The move comes after The Lawyer reported that Arnold & Porter left Shearman’s Brussels office partnerless after hiring partners Annette Schild and Silvio Cappellari (27 August 2009).
Shearman senior partner Rohan Weerasinghe said that Meyer-Lindemann’s relocation made sense as he had been part of the team that set up the Brussels office in 2001.
Weerasinghe added: “Hans has always been a big part in developing Brussels. His move to Brussels makes a lot of sense. We want to continue build up Brussels and competition is a crucial part of that.”
In total Shearman has 50 competition and antitrust lawyers across its global network.
