Family law set 4 Paper Buildings has taken on seven barristers from Renaissance Chambers, including leading family silk Henry Setright QC.

Setright, the only silk practising from Renaissance Chambers, joins 4 Paper Buildings with barristers Teertha Gupta, Alistair Perkins, Ruth Kirby, Hassan Khan, Jacqueline Renton and Michael Gration.

They join the family team under Marcus Scott Manderson QC.

The move comes less than two years after another major recruitment drive which saw 4 Paper Buildings take on nine barristers from 9 Gough Square, led by Alex Verdan QC.

The chambers now counts seven silks among its members. Head of chambers Jonathan Cohen said the new members meant that 4 Paper Buildings was the largest family only set in the country.

He added: “Their arrival complements our existing team of international specialists.

“It was a natural coming together of like-minded leading barristers and we are rightly proud of our expansion.”

The exit of Setright leaves the family law practice of Renaissance Chambers without a silk in residence.

Brian Jubb, who is joint head of chambers, said: “We at Renaissance Chambers are saddened that a number of colleagues with whom we built up close relationships have moved to another set.

“But we appreciate that times at the Bar are such that there is much consolidation. ”
