Firm: Baker & McKenzie
Position: Head of facilities
Lives: Chelmsford, Essex
What time do you start work each day?

Facilities is not for wimps: I’m in around 8.30am.
What’s the dullest task you’ve ever been given?

Reviewing CCTV  footage – only to be told I’d looked at the wrong day.

How much time do you spend on Facebook each week?

When it comes to friendships, I’m strictly ’analogue’. Whilst others are spending time on Facebook, I’m out there talking with people instead. I highly recommend it.

If you could introduce one law, what would it be and why?

I’d curtail the working week from Tuesday through to Thursday because no one should have to work on a Monday or a Friday.

How did you spend your last bonus?

Ask the wife.

What are the best perks of your role?

The fact that it’s not a desk job. I spend my time out and about in the business interacting with people.

What do you wear on dress-down Fridays?

Business casual.

What’s the strangest thing you’ve been asked to do at work?

A few years ago I was asked to announce to one floor that Santa and his little helpers had arrived to give out their gifts. That was a new one.

What is the most irritating habit of any partner you’ve worked for?

Partner? Irritating? Don’t be ridiculous.

How do you unwind after the end of a hard week?

A nice cold Carlsberg.

Do you see your colleagues on weekends?

Yes, but preferably only on the golf course.

Have you ever fallen in love at work? If so, please provide details.

A gentleman never reveals.

If you were a lawyer what would your practice area be and why?

Property – as I was once a trainee surveyor.

Which is the best practice group for gossip and why?

Support beats every department hands down. It’s always full of surprises.

Given the chance, which overseas office would you work in?

Buenos Aires. Who wouldn’t?

What do you eat for lunch?

You can’t beat a BLT – unless maybe you top it off with a Twirl.

Is your salary (in thousands) greater than your age?

Depends on the currency.

What items do you always carry around with you at work?

It has to be my BlackBerry.

Of whom do you have photos on your desk?

My wife and four kids.

Which pub do the non-lawyers drink in?

The Bell on Fleet Street.

Soy Latte or Nescafe?

City break or weekend in the country?

Definitely a weekend in the country.

Sum up your firm in three words.

Fluent, passionate, friendly.
