Russell Jones & Walker sprang into action on Sunday when the Football Association finally decided to act on appointing the new England manager.
Employment partner Paul Daniels was instructed by Roy Hodgson to advise on his new four-year contract.
Daniels, who has expertise in discrimination, redundancy and unfair dismissal cases, heads the firm’s sports team and is known for his work on behalf of football managers.
Daniels said: “Having acted for Roy Hodgson on his departure from Liverpool I was asked to act again on his appointment as the new England football manager. As retained lawyers for the League Managers Association we’ve acted for many leading sports figures and we wish Roy all the best in his new post.”
As well as negotiating Hodgson’s three year contract with Liverpool FC in 2010, he then acted when the well-travelled manager left the club after just six months.
Other club bosses he has been instructed by include Everton boss David Moyes in the successful negotiation of a new five-year deal and Alex McLeish in his acrimonious move to Aston Villa from local rivals Birmingham City last summer.
Hodgson has previously spoke of Daniels’ “speed and volume of work done on an urgent basis” in negotiating his terms of departure from Liverpool.
It has been reported that Hodgson has a break clause in the four-year deal that allows both parties to review their positions after the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
