PwC launches Czech legal department with local hires

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has launched a new legal team in the Czech Republic after raiding local firms.

This latest development comes after PwC lost its in-house firm Ambruz & Dark to Deloitte in July this year.

The new team is structured to be able to provide services in PwC’s offices in Prague, Brno and Ostrava.

Daniel Čekal from Wilson & Partners will head the new division. He will be joined by M&A lawyer Jan Hladký, IP lawyer Martin Strnad, and associate Lukas Petr, all from local firm Havel & Holásek.

“Our intention is for PwC Legal to be closely integrated into PwC’s other business units, providing legal solutions to multinational and Czech businesses,” said said Paul Stewart, lead partner for PwC’s tax and legal services practice.

“This is a unique opportunity for us to create something new and dynamic within the Czech legal community, which is focused on adding value via commercial legal advice and solutions for our clients.”
