Proskauer Rose has ended more than a week of speculation by confirming its appointment of partners Russell Carmedy and Michael Nouril to its London office, following the pair’s departure from Jones Day.
Carmedy, who resigned from his position as partner in charge of Jones Day’s London office on 1 April (1 April 2011), will continue to focus his practice on M&A, including private M&A transactions, public takeover bids and leveraged private equity deals, as well as fulfilling a corporate governance role.
Nouril, who left his position as head of European private equity practice at Jones Day on the same day as Carmedy, will focus on private equity, M&A and other corporate transactions.
Robin Painter, co-chair of Proskauer’s corporate department and private investment funds group, said the arrival of Carmedy and Nouril signalled substantial growth in the US firm’s London office.
“Russell and Michael are important additions to our global corporate platform,” he said. “Their transactional experience coupled with their history working across industries on the full range of private and public transactions make them an integral part of our continued expansion around the world and an important resource for our clients.”
Head of Proskauer’s London office Mary Kuusisto added: “Our London-based corporate practice in private investment funds, finance and tax will be enhanced by the depth of experience Russell and Michael have in the full gamut of transactions. We look forward to working and growing with them.”
