Petronas Energy Trading, the European arm of the Malaysian energy giant’s gas trading business, has appointed its first in-house lawyer.
Nailesh Rambhai has moved to the company to lead the team, joining this week from Coventry Building Society.
The company currently instructs Kew-based energy specialist LXL, which was founded by former Clifford Chance partner Alan Jones, but Rambhai said he would consider hiring City firms and could launch a first legal panel.
Rambhai, is a former trainee in the banking team at Linklaters and later a banking and energy associate at McDermott Will & Emery.
He joins Petronas Energy Trading as head of the legal department and reports to the CEO in London.
